My students used to ask me, can I become an avid reader? In fact I only like to read on the internet …. why waste my time reading long books?

You might guess my answer: Something like some people are readers and some people become readers, but how do you become a really avid reader, someone who loves reading so much that he will never be seen without a book in his pockets?

Well, these days I do not really mind what medium young people are using as long as they become readers: They may read newspapers online or printed versions, they might buy books and leave them on the train when finished or give them away, leave them behind in cafes or train stations or in the bus!

Some might start collecting hard copies of books they wish to read again and again or read them first when young and a second time when parents and a third time when retired!

I myself have started to get rid of most printed books and am reading mostly on my Ipad where I can download and delete books when I have finished reading them.

And I am reading the classics for free in ePub versions or download them in the Kindle Book Format from the…
